The Challenge
As part of an enterprise-wide IT directive to move all applications, where possible, out of Molina’s internal data centers and onto cloud-based infrastructure, Molina Healthcare needed to migrate its on-premise PeopleSoft finance system to the cloud. Because Molina’s internal team had limited knowledge of PeopleSoft and the underlying infrastructure, Molina was looking for a partner to both lead the migration effort and manage the ongoing application post-migration.
The Solution
Molina Healthcare partnered with WorkStream for its deep partnership with Oracle and its 15-year history as a PeopleSoft consulting organization. WorkStream developed a cloud migration plan to support Molina’s strategic directive, partnering with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to host all components of the PeopleSoft application, and led every step of building the required AWS infrastructure and migrating the core PeopleSoft environment onto it. After a successful migration, WorkStream took on ongoing management of the PeopleSoft finance environment running on AWS, including two PeopleTools upgrades, PeopleSoft Update Manager (PUM) updates, and quarterly regulatory patching. This saved Molina approximately 45 percent in related infrastructure costs, along with further internal savings from no longer needing to staff PeopleSoft application administration.
