The Challenge
The State of Indiana needed to enhance the payroll processing capabilities of its PeopleSoft Payroll system by implementing a custom Pay Sheet Upload process. The State needed to standardize the payroll data upload process across its agencies, give managers the ability to submit payroll data directly for their direct reports, and build in the validation and approval oversight PeopleSoft Payroll required before that data could load into the system’s delivered PSHUP transaction table for payroll calculation. Any solution would need full tracking, auditing, and secure access controls over every upload.
The Solution
WorkStream managed the project end-to-end, leading overall project management, functional design, and technical development, each completed upon sign-off from the State of Indiana. WorkStream then completed all development of the custom PeopleSoft page for file uploads, standardizing the process around an Excel template and validating uploaded files before they reached an administrator review and approval workflow. WorkStream also built a custom Manager Self-Service page for transaction entries, with multi-level approval routing through PeopleSoft’s approval workflow engine, before loading approved data into the delivered PSHUP table, all supported by full logging and audit tracking. The project was completed on time and on budget over a nine-month, end-to-end engagement, and WorkStream then promoted the solution to production and rolled it out statewide across State of Indiana agencies.
