The Challenge
The primary objective of this engagement was to evaluate options and develop a go-forward path for a large-scale ERP implementation being managed by a competitor consulting firm. The implementation had gone over budget with no tangible deliverables to date, and the Montana Department of Transportation needed a consulting firm that could evaluate its current state, identify and quantify specific risks, outline a proposed revitalization effort, and draft a preliminary budget for reorganizing the project for success.
The Solution
In partnership with Oracle Consulting, WorkStream completed a highly complex assessment of a struggling PeopleSoft HCM and Finance implementation being led by a competitor consulting firm. WorkStream conducted 31 workshops across HCM and Finance business teams, identifying and quantifying 327 critical failures across 10 distinct categories, then delivered detailed recommendations and project planning to get the implementation back on track. WorkStream served as a subcontractor to Oracle Consulting Services, providing 4 of the 6 total project team members Oracle supplied to MDT. Those four resources spanned project management, PeopleSoft HCM and payroll subject matter expertise, PeopleSoft finance and supply chain subject matter expertise, and PeopleSoft technical and development expertise.
