The Challenge
McLane Company is a large-scale logistics operator with offices and locations across North America, migrating both HCM and Finance from PeopleSoft to Workday over a 24-month deployment. Truck driver pay added real complexity: mileage-based pay, hazard-based pay, and state and local legislative rules all factor into the calculation, which meant a longer parallel testing cycle for payroll as part of the Workday deployment. That extended testing pulled McLane’s internal team away from daily operations to support the payroll testing and configuration effort, and the company still needed its existing PeopleSoft environment fully supported throughout, along with a partner who could handle historical data conversion, ongoing data transformation, and new reporting inside Workday.
The Solution
WorkStream’s depth in both PeopleSoft and Workday made it a natural fit to support the deployment on both fronts at once. WorkStream staffed a four-person team spanning the two systems: Workday report writers, historical data conversion experts, PeopleSoft data conversion experts, and a time collection device configuration specialist. That team filled the gaps in McLane’s internal capacity during the extended payroll parallel testing and configuration effort, so McLane’s own staff could stay focused on daily operations while WorkStream kept the deployment on pace and the legacy PeopleSoft environment stable.
The Result
PeopleSoft continuity Environment kept fully supported for the entire 24-month Workday deployment.
Historical data conversion delivered Historical PeopleSoft data converted and delivered alongside deployment milestones.
On time, on budget Project tasks delivered on time and on budget throughout the engagement.
Workday reporting delivered New Workday reporting delivered alongside deployment milestones.
